Traffic park

During opening hours, the park offers pedal cars, scooters and kickbikes to use for free. In addition, you can borrow different yard games, such as marbels, petanque and darts.

Hobby horse park

In the hobby horse park you can build your own courses for show jumping and dressage. The equipment and obstacles are available during the park’s opening hours. You can bring your own hobby horses or use the ones we have at the park.

Pumptrack and parkour park

The pump track is free for everyone to use. You can come to the track with BMX’s, kickboards or bicycles etc. There is no equipment rental or guidance.

A new addition to the family park, the parkour track was built in autumn 2023. The parkour track includes a variety of functional equipment. The purpose of the equipment is for anyone coming to the park to find an activity for their level in no time, whether they are an experienced practitioner of the sport or someone who is new to it.

Bird Sanctuary

The Heinola Bird sanctuary is located in the Heinola Family Park. The Bird sanctuary is the most popular tourist attraction in Heinola. The clinic receives around 100 000–120 000 visitors a year.

Parking is available at Ratakatu 20, where you can park free of charge. Keijo Lehtinen, Simo Santapukki and Toni Wirtanen have made the car park available free of charge for this summer. There are 15 parking lots at the familypark on Urheilukatu and in the immediate vicinity there is a large parking lot at the indoor swimmingpools at Urheilukatu 3.

Familypark history

The City of Heinola has collected feedback from its residents in spring 2020 regarding the wishes of children, young people and families for the city’s amenities and activities. The feedback particularly highlighted the traffic park and pumptrack and called for an area where people could enjoy themselves and with their families. Surveys were carried out in different areas, including the old bus station where the family park is located.

The asphalt lines in the traffic park were painted with the help of the trustees and officials. The fencing materials were donated by Versowood Oy and Heinola Levy ja Lista Oy. The fence was installed by the City Street Department and Työpaja Torppa.

In spring 2021, an asphalt painting competition was organised for Heinola schoolchildren on the theme of nature, flowers and animals. The winning class from each school got to paint their winning work in the traffic park itself.
